Ryan‘s work focuses on quantifying kinematics during running. That being said, he is well engaged with physiological interactions with gait, and has recently published a study investigating metabolic cost changes that occur when pushing a stroller using a variety of push-techniques. He found some kinematic underpinnings for the physiological changes, and also noted the potential for personal preference to overlay metabolic outcomes. Ryan’s paper on the stroller running study was published in PLOS ONE.

Ryan worked with one of the research teams at Brooks Running and was featured in an article in ETC magazine.

Ryan’s work is currently in the news. You can read more about it here and here.

Currently Ryan is a graduate student at UC-Boulder. He is working with Dr Alena Grabowski.
